[edit] Information

Chapter 1: Exploitation 1933-1941 The story of Hitler's army of slave labourers, suffering under a brutal system that sought to exploit them to the utmost. At first forced labour was used to break down and humiliate the Nazis' political opponents as well as ordinary prisoners and the so-called 'asocials' (including Jews, Sinti and Roma). But over time, the Nazis exploited more and forced workers, men and women, to support the war economy. Chapter 2: Annihilation 1942-1944 How the system of Nazi forced labour became increasingly radical, with some prisoners categorised as 'sub-human' and suffering terribly from the racism of the German population. Chapter 3: Atonement 1945-Today Charts the escalation of the Nazi forced labour system. As the war neared its end, more and more forced labourers died, through work, on the Death Marches and by mass murder. And after the war, the fate of the forced labourers was denied and concealed in both west and east Germany.
